Some reassurance in these strange times
A fresh new look for Newton Cottage
We've given Newton Cottage a lick of paint so it looks all fresh and lovely, with smart blue doors. The chickens are most approving.
The sun is shining and the blossom is blossoming
It's a gorgeous spring day here at Katie's Border Cottages and I've been sprucing up the cottage gardens ready for guests. Patios have been power washed, grass cut, garden furniture hauled from the sheds and pots planted up for some Summer colour.
Do you get Badedas for birds?
On a frosty morning, I put a kettle of warm water into the bird baths. I'm barely back into the house when the sparrows jump in and splash around in their birdy hot tub.
Sloe Gin Takes Ages
The anticipation is killing me. Every couple of days I take these jars out of their dark hidey hole and give them a good shake. My efforts should be rewarded by delicious, fruity sloe gin just in time for Christmas.
Christmas Chutney
What do you do with a glut of green tomatoes?
Enjoying Autumn & Cider Making
We've had the most fantastic weather this Autumn, with surprisingly warm days, lots of sunshine and beautiful clear nights. The first little dusting of frost this morning.
Summer 2016
It's a Friday afternoon in August and I'm reflecting on the Summer so far at Katie's Border Cottages.
